The Autumn Term has just started and I have been welcoming newcomers to several of the classes.
Some of the classes are taking exams at the end of November and are working hard to achieve their best.
Thelma Grindley is participating in the Cecchetti Awards at the Lilian Bayliss Theatre, Sadlers Wells on the 22nd of November, so we all wish her the very best of luck.
The Summer Term was relatively quiet after a busy Spring Term.
Following a very successful exam session in March, I presented the children with their certificates and, for some, medals after half term.
Without the pressure of exams we had a lot of fun in the classes, and the children particularly enjoyed the Barn Dancing warm up, especially when I invited parents and siblings to join us during “Watching Week” at the end of term!
Cecchetti Choreographic Competition
Six pupils took part in the annual Cecchetti Choreographic Competition held at Cecil Sharp House, Regents Park, in March.
Isabella Sullivan, Evelyn Johnson and Milla Law came first in the Junior Group section with their dance called, “Shopping.”
Thelma Grindley and Beatrice Johnson were awarded a Commendation Certificate for their duet called, “Bedtime.”
Auditions and Productions.
Congratulations to pupils who have been successful in auditions...
Thelma Grindley and Isaac Insley were awarded places on the Cecchetti Associate scheme for the coming school year. They will attend three sessions per term at the Rambert School in Twickenham and have a ballet class followed by a character, modern or other style of dance class.
Isabella Sullivan has been awarded a place on Cub Camp where she is training to take part in the musical The Lion King when she is older.
Salvador Thylmann-Foster successfully auditioned for CAT, a full time dance training course on Saturdays.
My 30th Anniversary at the School
This September marks 30 years since I started teaching at the School.
To mark my anniversary, Clare, one of my pianists, presented me with a trophy of a ballerina at the end of last term.
