Autumn term 2014

The Autumn Term has just started and I have been welcoming newcomers to several of the classes.
Some of the classes are taking exams at the end of November and are working hard to achieve their best.
Thelma Grindley is participating in the Cecchetti Awards at the Lilian Bayliss Theatre, Sadlers Wells on the 22nd of November, so we all wish her the very best of luck.

Last term
The Summer Term was relatively quiet after a busy Spring Term.
Following a very successful exam session in March, I presented the children with their certificates and, for some, medals after half term.
Without the pressure of exams we had a lot of fun in the classes, and the children particularly enjoyed the Barn Dancing warm up, especially when I invited parents and siblings to join us during “Watching Week” at the end of term!

Spring term 2014

Events this term
The Spring Term is well under way and several excited classes of children are preparing for examinations which will be held at the School in March.

For the Primary class this will be their first experience of an exam, so with the help of my pianist and assistants I am making sure this will be an enjoyable and rewarding occasion for them.

The children taking Primary and “Standard” exams will perform their class in groups of four in front of an examiner sent by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. These exams are informal and I will be taking the children in and teaching the class as usual.

Some of the children are taking a “Performance Award” which requires them to perform their steps in small groups without their teacher, and to dance a solo.
